As India prepares for President Obama's arrival, we see signs of security preparations everywhere. Today we drove from Delhi to Agra (site of the Taj Mahal) , a route Obama will follow if he can't make the trip by air due to the intense fog most mornings here.
Rather than go via the new expressway, we chose the old route which went through town after town for about 4 and a half hours. Very wonderful views of village life.
We saw many herds of sheep and goats together. (very biblical)

Origin of Sacred cows in India -
Back before refrigeration , families would kill a cow and have a meal but after that the meat
would go bad. The cattle population was being depleted. So the ruler declared cows were sacred
and not to be eaten. And so the tradition of the sacred cows began.
Working with buffalo dung which is dried and used to burn for cooking and heat. Note the smiles in spite of the hard work

Lots of monkeys along the way
